Rev. James Reginald Levert

Reverend James R. Levert 

James Reginald Levert was born in Birmingham, Al, and is the firstborn of a set of twins to the late James Albert and Mary Phillips Levert. Both of his Grandfathers were Pastor’s  Reverend Johnny C Levert Church Of God Reverend Robert Dawkins “Baptist”  He joined Saint Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in Brighton, Alabama where he was baptized and later became a member of the sunbeam choir, James attended the Birmingham public school system and after graduating from Shades Valley high school in 1982, he joined the United States Army where he served thirteen years of active service, and another nine years in the National Guard.

Reverend Levert then joined the Savannah Police Department, where he was promoted from Patrolman to Detective and two years was elevated to Sergeant. It was also during that time that he joined Saint Philip Monumental 1994, Reverend Levert answered the call to the Ministry,  and was Ordained Itinerant Deacon in 1998 and Itinerant Elder in 2004, Reverend  Levert attended the University of Georgia, Savannah Georgia campus and graduated with a Associate Degree in Public Management in 2000. He then attended Saint Leo University, Savannah Campus, with a Business Management Degree 2004. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Turner Theological Seminary on the Campus of ITC “Interdenominational Theological Center”, Atlanta, GA 2018. Reverend Levert currently has one year to complete his Doctor of Ministry degree which his focus is on Social Justice with a concentration in ethics.

 

Reverend Levert has served in the 6th Episcopal District at New Hope, Ludowici Ga, Saint Paul, Ellabell Ga, Greater Bethel, Reidsville Ga, Mount Pleasant, Wrightsville Ga, Saint Matthew, Augusta Ga. and Hunts Chapel Eatonton Ga He also served in the 9th Episcopal District at Allen Temple, Phoenix City Al, Saint Matthew, Enon Al and Greater Saint Matthew, Brantley, Al. Now, he is currently serving as the Pastor of Fountain Grove A.M.E.
